Dear Neil,

We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for ensuring our initial vision of some form of part cover for our pool was realised into a pergola covering some of the pool and surrounding area together with a workable deck area for adequate seating. As a result, we now have a fantastic outdoor relaxation and entertainment area protected from the hot westerly afternoon sun.

Josh, who both project managed and worked on the project, was extremely pleasant and professional on a daily basis. It was also encouraging to know that the work continued whilst we were at work in a most trustworthy manner. Consideration was even given to the little things in ensuring our dog was well cared for and not allowed to roam away from home through unlocked gates etc.

A number of alternate suggestions were made by both Neil and Josh both prior to and during the building period which, once the project was completed, certainly added those special final touches that otherwise would not have been there.

We certainly look forward to Josh returning in October and again next year to continue the upgrade work.

We had a challenge on our hands when we purchased a double story red brick house that we wanted to turn into our dream home. We knew what we wanted in terms of design but needed a well qualified, experienced, and quality builder that could transform this red brick house into our home.

As you do, we embarked on an extended research program to find a suitable builder. We had not heard of Turrells when a friend suggested that we contact them. We met Neil and also Brad and they were not like any other builder we had found in our own research. These guys turned up to discuss our project and not only came well credentialed in building but had great ideas that we used to enhance our home because they understood the theme of what we wanted for our home. Therefore after our own selection process we elimated all the other builders we interviewed and decided to award our project to Turrells.

From day one Brad was our Project Manager and we were kept abreast of all stages of the renovation. Also as we progressed both Brad and Neil came up with suggestions to help us and ensure that what we were renovating was in keeping with our objective. But also along the way it was the "1% ers" that Brad just did to truly make this renovation a success. Brad is a perfectionist. On one occasion a wall was just not perfect so he just pulled it down and started again. Brad's project management skills are excellent, not only did our project come in on time and within the budget but we have ended up with a fantastic home well beyond our belief. But, that is our view. Everyday people walk past our home in amazement at the transformation of our house into our dream home. They just cannot believe the quality of the workmanship and the end result.

In March 2009 Turrell Building commenced a major overhaul of our old dark 1960's 3 bedroom one bathroom red brick veneer residence and turned it into a light and bright modern 4 bedroom home with ensuite and a wonderful outdoor living space.

Recommendations were made along the way as to what building materials and suppliers be used to ensure that the finishes to our floors, windows and walls were first class. We would really recommend the renderers, as they did a fantastic job on rendering over our red brick house.

Ben project managed our build, and was pleasant, courteous and professional at all times. Aaron and Scott came to the site daily and were pleasant blokes who got on with the job. Whilst we were at work we knew that our project would continue in a trustworthy manner in our absence, with the mobile phone getting a work out! Thanks Matt!! We lived in the house whilst all the changes were going on around us, which at times was quite difficult, but the boys always respected our space, and asked our opinions about any changes that became necessary along the way. Neil recommended some small internal changes to our living space which cover up "clutter" that would have existed otherwise.

Neil would always get any small problems "sorted" and we thank him for that!

My husband and I engaged Turrell Building Services to complete the construction of our home at Dural in January 2005. Turrells became involved in the works subsequent to horrendous problems that we had encountered with a prior building company (that has since had its building licence cancelled).

Due to the profoundly detrimental impact that the prior builder had on our family, we were very cautious about placing trust in another building company.

From the outset however, Neil Turrell has gone out of his way to ensure that we are happy and fully informed about the progress of the works. Neil employs a wonderful team of office staff who have also been extremely helpful and friendly throughout the building of our home.

Due to his role as site supervisor, Ben Jones has become our day to day point of contact. A big thank you in relation to the renovation/extension your company recently completed for us.

We had a house with very limited living accommodation and wonderful views that we were not taking advantage of due to bad design. We wanted to extend our indoor living area opening it up to the views and also include an undercover outdoor entertaining area linking this to the existing pool.

We chose Turrell Building Services due to their excellent reputation in the local area of Dural. We were not disappointed. Neil spent many hours with us in the early planning stages determining our needs and organised plans to be drawn up by Graham Young (one of Turrell’s draftsmen). We all worked well with Graham resulting in a plan that we were happy with.

We did not have to wait long after council approval for our dream to start happening. Neil introduced us to Damien who managed and built our project along with others in the Turrell team and all were professional in every respect. Nothing was too much for Damien, any problems that arose where alterations needed to be considered were approached and solved without any issue what so ever. Damien and his enthusiastic team were always punctual and on the job, there were very few hold ups due to delays in materials not arriving ensuring the job flowed smoothly through to completion.

We had a few minor unforeseen issues after completion which were attended to promptly and without question by Neil and his team.

We consulted Turrell Building Services after seeing an example of their work in Castle Hill and being very impressed with the design. We wanted to build an outdoor entertainment area at the rear of our newly renovated home and the Turrell structure was just what we had imagined as a valuable addition to our property.

We have a north facing back garden. Our kitchen and family room are both very sunny in the wintertime, but hot in the summer. With an unusual roofline to deal with, we could not find a solution to our building problem – how to create an attractive pergola which would give shade in summer, but not lose the winter sun.

The Turrell outdoor room was the solution. Designed specifically for our situation by Neil Turrell in consultation with Graham Young (Turrell’s Draftsman) we were able to build a stylish outdoor entertaining area, which allowed the light indoors, allowed the winter sun in, but eliminated the harsh summer sun and heat. Neil suggested the addition of downlights, a fan and roof speakers connected to our stereo, which gave us an outdoor room to use all year round.

The workmanship of Damian, our project manager, and his crew was outstanding.The attention to detail was evident throughout the building process and nothing was ever too much trouble, no problem too big or too small.

We also had Turrells re-vamp our back garden. New pavers for patio and pool area, garden edging and new plantings. Wade and his team did a great job.

The building and landscaping teams were consistently professional, polite and hard working and very easy to have around. The office staff were courteous and helpful and Neil was always available if a problem arose.

Building is usually a stressful process – ours was not.

We are very happy with the end result and would be pleased to recommend Turrells for a superior job and friendly professional service from start to finish. We would definitely use them again.

I was very impressed with all team members including, Tim Shand the project manager who didn't come to us with problems, but always solutions. Linda was excellent in keeping us updated with the financials. All the tradesmen showed the highest work ethic and always produced workmanship of the highest standard. Every supplier you refered us to were very helpful aswell.

Graham did an excellent job converting your and our ideas to paper. Graham made the process of drawing the plans as well as managing the council requirements seamless.

As you know, Joanne and I have been planning this project (dreaming) for years and now that we are settled in, you have well and truely surpassed our highest expectations.

“Oh God,” said many to whom we mentioned the word renovation, “we’ve just been through that and it was a nightmare!” When we tell them our story most don’t believe us.

We began the process of renovating our small, three bedroom brick veneer home some time ago and sent ambitious plans to several builders – all exceeded our budget substantially. One of the builders we briefed was Neil Turrell. He steered us in the direction of draughtsman Graham Young and between them they came up with a plan that delighted us and, most importantly, was within our budget.

Neil and his team, under the supervision of building foreman Richard Francis, were exceptional. Attention to detail, innovation, cost control, and a real appreciation of our needs could not be faulted and we now have a home that is a joy to live in and a credit to the workmanship and genuine care that Turrell Building brought to the project.

Thank you for organising the re-fit for our double garage. I appreciated your prompt responses to each of my phone calls and quick action on starting and completing the work. Turrell’s provided excellent trades people completing fine work with attention to detail despite the relatively low budget, small nature of the work.

It was helpful to have the payment plan defined so all involved knew what a when work needed to be paid. Receipts were promptly issued and any discrepancy that may have occurred was promptly dealt with.

Brad and Ben worked on site most of the time and were motivated and eager to please. They worked late on occasions so that they job was completed as soon as possible. Although both are carpenters, there were able to do many other small jobs such as laying slate window sills. They both love their job and it shows in the quality of their work.

Mega Electrical who worked on the electrical aspect of the job and was header by Angus were efficient and able to solve tricky problems. In particular, Sean who dealt with the internet set up throughout the house was friendly, patient and skilful in facing problems we had encountered.

Damien’s tiling team were brilliant, fastidiously lining up patterns in the tiles and also worked late to finish this project. They were helpful leaving instructions on final clearing of the tiles.

Peter Raso’s team completed the cornice and plaster work, fitting this job into his busy schedule. He was not the initial trades person booked as the other one was unable to meet his commitment. But Brad (project manager) quickly employed Peter, not missing a beat so there was always someone working on site. Peter did an exceptional job.

I was thrilled that Turrell’s was accommodating when I wanted to use my own plumber and they worked in perfectly with him.

If I bought some hardware items myself or wanted sentimental pieces from my mothers demolished house included, Turrell’s were more than happy to work these in.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Turrell’s to complete any building job. I don’t pay that highly as I have dealt with many tradesmen over the past eight years on our property and had various results.

Neil, you have a top class team of tradesmen working for you and you expect nothing short of excellence. Since we first contacted Neil Turrell last year, for a quote for the extension to my house, we have had excellent responses to any questions and issues raised with Neil and his team. His quote for the project was accurate and reasonable compared to other vendors that I contacted. The materials used by Turrell is of top quality.

The project manager Ben Jones was a pleasure to deal with - in fact, when we first had the back wall taken off and a tarpaulin placed over the roof, we had a leaky roof when it rained one Saturday night - I called Ben on his mobile to ask him to rectify it the next day since he was at a family dinner at a restaurant - he felt obliged to come straight away and rectify the problem - that's great customer service!

The team of carpenters Neil used on our job, Todd and Cameron were also polite, courteous and very professional in their dealings and workmanship. We also found the receptionist, accounts, brickie, plumber, electrician and the floor sander people excellent. Neil uses a great painter in Stuart Kennedy and I ended up having him paint the rest of the house externally. Even their plumbing suppliers, The Bathroom Shop, provided great pre and post sales service for our laundary and bathroom renovations. Please pass on our thanks to all your staff on behalf of myself and my wife as we could not have dealt with a better team.

Apologies for taking so long to send you photos of our renovation. I hope you like the before and after shots I have taken.

We have asked Phillip to go ahead with the glass fence. You will notice in one of the photos that the holes have been drilled for the spigots and next week, with a bit of luck, our new security fence will be installed. Thank you for recommending Phillip to us.

Since we have completed our “make over”, our back neighbour has made life hell. He is now constructing a huge pergola/patio behind our screen. He has no building permit displayed and the frame of the extension actually overhangs our boundary line. He is on his roof nearly every week-end making lots of noise, so to date we have not enjoyed our patio as much as we would have liked - he just stands on his roof looking in, even if we have visitors. Our only consolation is that one day he will finish his extension.

On a happy note, when we have visitors they stand with their mouths open and say “WOW” when they see what we have done. Most people have a sorry tale to tell about their builders. We feel blessed to have been fortunate enough to find YOU and for that, we thank you.
